How does Pain occur?

Within the HolisticPainTherapy approach, Pain is understood as the body's protective warning system, alerting us to potential harm. All joint movements involve at least two muscles: the agonist (prime mover) and the antagonist (opposing muscle). Pain in the musculoskeletal system often occurs when opposing muscle pairs generate varying degrees of tension.

Pain Emerges from Muscular-Fascial Imbalances

Pain commonly results from muscles functioning improperly due to incorrect muscular-fascial tension patterns. Limited movement or repetitive one-sided movement can lead to fascial and muscular constrictions. These constrictions may threaten joint integrity, prompting the body to generate what we term AlarmPain.
