Many people in industrialised Western society experience lumbago at some point in their lives, also known as lower BackPain. Pain occurs in the lower back or lumbar region of the spine and is often associated with aching and tense muscles.
Pain is most intense when suddenly moving and diminishes quickly when walking or standing. It often accompanies muscle contraction resulting in a stiff back due to severe muscle Pain and spasms, making bending forward and backwards extremely difficult. Sometimes Pain can radiate to the rest of the back, including buttocks and legs. Some people experience pins and needles, and occasionally even total numbness.
Lumbago represents acute lower BackPain, sometimes combined with so-called Sciatica. It occurs through sudden movements during which incorrectly trained muscles are overexerted due to constant sitting or bending at work. The body attempts to defend against imminent disc overstraining. Muscles, including fasciae, shorten in ways that may jeopardise disc health.
Often this Pain may show improvement following the first session by applying Osteopressure.
