Restless legs syndrome involves uncomfortable sensations in the legs, especially when sitting or lying down. Patients have an irresistible urge to move affected limbs to relieve discomfort. People often keep their legs in motion to minimise or prevent sensations while sitting or lying. They may toss and turn in bed.
Symptoms worsen at night with a distinct symptom-free period in early morning. Periods of inactivity such as long car trips, sitting at a desk, long-distance flights, or relaxation exercises trigger it.
Many elderly people experience this condition, mainly at night. Although it is often viewed as a neurological problem treated with L-Dopa (a neurological drug), we have observed that symptoms may in many cases improve considerably with the use of our Osteopressure approach
